Winter skincare tips

As the weather changes so do the demands on our skin. Cold wind, internal heating and lack of humidity in the air can make our skin feel dry, itchy and flaky. Here are some tips to help you take care of your skin in the colder months.

Consider changing your cleanser:

If your not already using one consider a soothing creamy cleanser to leave a little extra moisture in your skin after cleansing

Exfoliate:

Hopefully you're already exfoliating to remove dry dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, an incredibly important step in your skincare routine to renew and refresh the surface of your skin. Consider doing one extra gentle exfoliation a week in winter to remove the dryness  and help hydration lock in.

Lock in moisture:

You may find you need a richer moister in winter, lightweight ones are great for Summer but don’t provide enough moisture in winter. Changing it up is very good for your skin

Add a hydrating serum:

If you’re not using a serum, a hydrating serum is recommended in winter, preferably one with hyaluronic acid to improve hydration and moisture retention. A serum goes under your moisturiser preparing the skin to lock in the moisturiser.

Wear sunscreen regardless of the weather:

Sunscreen is a must no matter if the suns out or not. Always apply at least a 30spf every morning.

Drink plenty of water:

The skin is the last organ in our body to get hydration from the water we drink. Even when it’s cold keep up the water intake

Use lip balm:

Don’t forget those poor lips, apply a balm, preferably with SPF to protect and hydrate
